11th Annual Snowflake Gala raises over $835,000

1,400 guests attend black tie gala in support of Stollery Children’s Hospital
 
On December 10, 2007, more than 1,400 community members joined Presenting Sponsor Don & Marina Ghermezian at the Shaw Conference Centre for the 11th Annual Snowflake Gala. The black tie event raised more than $835,000 for priority needs at the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
 
"Last night was a magical and inspirational evening," said Dallas Smith, Chair, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. "This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, guests and volunteers"
 
CTV Edmonton news anchors, Carrie Doll and Daryl McIntyre emceed the event, which featured a traditional turkey dinner and a unique assortment of silent auction items. Other celebrity hosts included Rhubarb Jones and Audie Lynds from 92.5 JOE FM and 100.3 The Bear’s Paul Brown, Gillian Foote and Yukon Jack.
 
Guests got the chance to bid during an exciting live auction with Danny Hooper, which raised $63,000. Live auction items included an NHL training camp for 20 with Edmonton Oiler Jarret Stoll, four tickets and airfare to the 2008 Canadian Idol finale, and customized ride in a fighter jet.

Feature auction items included a custom-built schoolhouse, a Hawaiian vacation for two, custom-made jewelry inspired by the artwork of young Stollery patients, a private flight over Edmonton, a cocktail party for 20 at the home of Bruce Saville and two tickets to the 2008 David Foster and Friends Gala.
 
In eleven years, the Snowflake Gala has raised over $3.7 million for sick and injured kids in our community, and beyond.
