When Hair Massacure started in 2003, 48 people shaved their heads and raised $37,000. The event has grown by leaps and pinks, and in 2011 more than 1,740 participants, 23 schools and 400 volunteers worked together and raised $1,050,000!
Thanks to the passion of participants and volunteers over the past nine years, Hair Massacure has raised almost $4.8 million to help children with life-threatening illnesses. Funds raised from this event support Make-A-Wish® Northern Alberta, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation (Pediatric Oncology), and Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta.
There are many ways to get involved: pink your hair, shave your head, donate your long hair, volunteer and fundraise!
