Read below to learn more about some of the exciting opportunities we have available!

Please note that volunteer opportunities with the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation do not include contact with the patients. If you would like to volunteer for the Stollery Children’s Hospital, please click here.

Snowflake Gala

This event is a unique family experience where more than 1,100 guests enjoy a magical evening including a delicious turkey dinner, silent auction, balloon extravaganza and a very special family dance. Snowflake Gala requires close to 300 volunteers to assist with many activities including pre-event administration, set-up and take-down, auction and balloon sales, guest registration, children’s activities, and the building and painting of numerous decorations.

Corus Radiothon

Corus Radiothon is a two-day, live radio broadcast that raises funds for the Foundation. This event requires over 300 volunteers to coordinate phone bank shifts, man phone banks, verify and process pledges, and many other activities.

We will begin Corus Radiothon volunteer recruitment in January 2012.

Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run & Walk

The Forzani Group Foundation partners with the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation’s volunteer program to host their annual Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run & Walk. Proceeds of the event go towards the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for the Stollery Children’s Hospital. This event requires over 100 volunteers to fill positions in course set-up and take-down, athlete kit preparation, aid stations, athlete registration, and the food tent. To learn more about this event, visit www.mdrunandwalk.com.

We will begin volunteer recruitment for the Sport Chek Mother's Day Run & Walk in April 2012.

Office Administration

This is a great way to cultivate new skills in a fun, fast-paced environment. Throughout the year the Foundation requires support in our office with a variety of tasks:

  • general office administration, including data entry and mail outs
  • Event preparation, including assembling information packages and thank-you gifts.

Dr. PatchUp

Dr. PatchUp is a very friendly bear with a very busy schedule! We are always looking for volunteers to wear our mascot costume at many special events where Dr. PatchUp has been invited to come and play. Being Dr. PatchUp is a great way to support the image of the Foundation. It’s a fun way to be imaginative, outgoing and energetic… and a great excuse for clowning around!

Community Fundraisers

The Foundation holds several of its own fundraisers, but also supports many community fundraisers throughout the year. Community fundraisers are put on by corporations and individuals in the community, with part or all of the proceeds designated for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. Many community fundraisers require volunteers in a variety of areas. Contact the Foundation for more information on community fundraisers requiring volunteers.

If you’ve decided you would like to challenge yourself with a rewarding experience and be a part of the Stollery team, please fill out our current volunteer application form and email our Volunteer Manager, Kristin Tustian.

  • Students Sharing Their Talents - The Heart of Giving

Thanks so much to the Grade 5 Students at Millwoods Christian School! Participating in a service project where they identify their talents and use them to benefit others, not only did they raise money to help the Stollery Children's Hospital, they also made craft kits for the sick kids in the hospital, complete with a letter to encourage each patient who receives one of the kits! Their inspiring story gets to the heart of philanthropy.
