DESCRIPTION:Lemonade Stand Day gives kids the opportunity to set up their own lemonade stands\, learn the basics of running a business and raise money for Stollery kids like them. Junior Lemon Squeezers will be out in full force with lemonade stands across Alberta on Sunday\, August 24. \nProceeds from this year’s Lemonade Stand Day will support patient and family-centred care at the Stollery Children’s Hospital with the purchase of bedside caregiver cots. \nWhen kids come to the Stollery\, they don’t come alone. Parents and caregivers accompany children to the Hospital\, and\, often\, these support people remain by their side for the duration of their stay. Currently\, many of these caregivers must choose between spending their nights sleeping in chairs or making the difficult decision to leave their child’s side overnight. \nThe purchase of caregiver cots for multiple units at the Stollery will allow caregivers to stay close to their child\, alleviating anxiety and creating a sense of security for both the caregiver and the young patient. The cots will also allow caregivers to collaborate closely with the health-care team during the child’s stay and reduce the financial burden on families who would need to find accommodations nearby. \nYour support will make a life-changing difference for kids and their families who rely on the Stollery’s world-class care. \nLemonade Stand Day is an exciting chance for kids to give back to kids while learning entrepreneurial and community skills. You’ll receive everything you need to get your stand set up – and the final ingredient is YOU!
