Having a major impact before her 40th birthday

Each year the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) honours the best and brightest in health-care philanthropy through their Top 40 Under 40 program. Out of the hundreds of nominated industry leaders from across the globe, we’re honoured to announce the AHP Top 40 Under 40 class of 2022 includes our very own Nafisa Bowen, senior development officer as part of our major gifts team.

Nafisa has been with the Stollery Children’s Foundation for more than seven years in various fundraising roles, including managing the Children’s Miracle Network Program portfolio, where she skyrocketed the success of Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day in northern Alberta, making the Stollery the most successful Miracle Treat Day market in Canada.

Most recently, Nafisa led a $2 million campaign for the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Sturgeon Community Hospital and has taken on the role of being a media spokesperson for our Mighty Millions Lottery.

When Nafisa isn’t raising much-needed funds for the Stollery, you’ll find her being active in her community. Passionate about people, Nafisa is currently part of several boards and cabinets, including being the Director of IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and access) for the Association of Fundraising Professionals Edmonton and Area Chapter.

Above all else, Nafisa is a mother. You’ll often find Nafisa exploring Edmonton’s river valley with her husband Josh and their son Jasper in tow.

“I'm passionate about people first. For me, it's about helping people thrive through adversity. Whether it's in my professional world supporting child health, or in my volunteer endeavors. I love supporting others and seeing them grow.”
