Donor generosity opens doors of new Pediatric Surgery Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital
EDMONTON — Kids and families will benefit from the newly constructed Pediatric Surgery Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, made possible through the generosity of donors and the Government of Alberta.
The new clinic will officially open on Monday, August 17 and brings pediatric surgical care together in a modern, purpose-built space designed to improve the experience for kids, families and health-care teams. The project was made possible through a $13.8 million investment from donors through the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and a $4.85 million investment from the Government of Alberta to support key infrastructure for the clinic.
Donor support has transformed the clinic into a welcoming, kid-friendly environment equipped to meet the specialized needs of pediatric patients. Funding from the Foundation supported a new reception and waiting area, updated clinic and procedure rooms, multidisciplinary spaces for rehabilitation, radiology, including a urodynamics room and new medical equipment, furnishings, information technology and clinic graphics.
“This new clinic is an excellent example of what can be achieved when government, health-care partners and generous donors work together,” says Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services. “Our government is committed to ensuring Alberta children have access to the specialized health care they need. Investments like this help make sure that families can receive world-class care as close to home as possible.”
“This new Stollery Pediatric Surgery Clinic reflects our commitment to providing exceptional care for children and families,” says Christine Westerlund, Senior Operating Officer, Stollery Children’s Hospital and Interim Edmonton Urban Corridor Lead. “The thoughtfully designed space supports collaboration, accommodates growing demand, and ensures we can continue delivering high-quality pediatric surgical care for years to come.”
“Every day, our donors show what’s possible when a community comes together for children,” says Karen Faulkner, President & CEO, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Their generosity has created a space where children can receive specialized surgical care in an environment designed just for them. This clinic is a powerful reminder that every gift helps build a healthier future for kids and families across Alberta and beyond.”
The Pediatric Surgery Clinic brings together specialized services in one location, helping improve access, coordination of care and the overall experience for patients and families.
The Stollery Children’s Hospital serves kids and families from across Alberta, Western Canada and the North. As demand for specialized pediatric care continues to grow, investments from donors and government partners ensure the Hospital can continue providing leading-edge care close to home.
