The power of generosity

Our friends at Capital Power recently stopped by with a special delivery — a generous donation of $75K in support of emergency mental health services at the Stollery Emergency Department.

Each year, Capital Power organizes an employee fundraising campaign called “Let’s Rally Together” — this year they came together to fundraise for charities that support mental health in the communities where employees live and work. The campaign offers an unlimited corporate match to all employee donations to registered charities in Canada and the United States. Over ten days in October 2022, Capital Power employees came together to raise a whopping $225K for mental health charities and initiatives, with $75K directed to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

As a proud Edmonton-headquartered company and long-time supporter of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, Capital Power shared how the Stollery supports child and youth mental health, including early-intervention programming. They welcomed Stephanie McConnel, clinical nurse educator with the Stollery Children’s Hospital, for a webinar to learn about the importance of early intervention, how to help children and youth thrive and where to turn when help is needed.

Jacquie Pylypiuk, senior vice president of people, culture and technology at Capital Power, and Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation Board Member, was pleased to hand deliver the donation to Karen Faulkner, chief operating officer of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Thank you to Capital Power for your generosity and for helping make sure kids and teens from backyards across Alberta have access to some of the best physical and mental health care anywhere in the world!

We’re proud to rally together as an organization and donate in support of life-changing mental health resources. Our impact is greater together — once again we were awed by our employees’ spirit of generosity and proud to match their donations corporately to double the impact.
