Meet Luna

Luna’s family noticed some issues right from her birth, but it wasn’t until she was four months old and got her first cold that they received a diagnosis. Her family is so thankful they lived such a short drive away from the Stollery as a nurse took one look at her and took her straight back to resuscitation. They then received the diagnosis of congenital lobar emphysema, a rare lung malformation.

Luna has had major surgeries like the removal of a lung, a gastrostomy to insert a G tube and many other procedures like bronchoscopy.

Today, Luna still uses a G tube and is followed closely by her Stollery team – and her family still thinks of the Stollery as ‘Luna’s Hospital’.

The Stollery has become our second home, where the staff treat us with kindness and respect.
