Donor generosity opens doors of new Pediatric Surgery Clinic at the Stollery
Stollery kids and families will soon benefit from a newly constructed Pediatric Surgery Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, made possible through the generosity of donors and the Government of Alberta.
The new clinic will officially open on Monday, August 17 and brings pediatric surgical care together in a modern, purpose-built space designed to improve the experience for kids, families and health-care teams.
As the Alberta population has expanded, the previous clinic location saw an ever-increasing volume of patients – up to 28,000 patients per year and as many as 275 patient visits daily in a waiting room and clinic built for far fewer.
Thanks to donor support, the new Pediatric Surgery Clinic, located on the fifth floor of the KAYE Edmonton Clinic, is now a welcoming, kid-friendly environment equipped to meet the specialized needs of pediatric patients with:
- Increased waiting room and clinic room capacity
- A bright, naturally lit environment
- Dedicated play spaces
- Support for growing patient volumes
- Enhancements for collaboration among healthcare teams
- Flexibility needed to meet the evolving needs of patients
The project was made possible through a $13.8 million investment from donors through the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and a $4.85 million investment from the Government of Alberta to support key infrastructure for the clinic.
Funding from the Foundation supported a new reception and waiting area, updated clinic and procedure rooms, multidisciplinary spaces for rehabilitation, radiology, including a urodynamics room and new medical equipment, furnishings, information technology and clinic graphics.

The Pediatric Surgery Clinic brings together more than fifteen surgical services in one location, helping improve access, coordination of care and the overall experience for patients and families.
