A place for innovation
Our commitment to advancing kids’ health care research has made its tangible mark with the naming of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Innovation Laboratories, located at the University of Alberta.
In recognition of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation’s dedication to pediatric health care research, lab space at the University of Alberta (UofA) has been renamed to celebrate the powerful partnership between the Foundation, the UofA and the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI).
Since 2006, the Foundation has invested more than $85.5 million in research through WCHRI, supporting more than 325 researchers, working on more than 211 active research projects and upwards of 200 clinical trials.
“The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Innovation Laboratories represent our belief that the best care for kids starts with discovery — with the curiosity and creativity of our WCHRI researchers who push the boundaries of what’s possible. For our supporters, it’s a proud symbol of the effect their generosity has had,” says Karen Faulkner, President & CEO of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The labs are located within the Katz Group Centre for Pharmacy and Health Research, housing 11 scientists conducting world-leading research in precision health. Their work ranges from decoding rare genetic diseases to developing new therapies for childhood brain tumours and kidney disorders. The space will also be used to train future researchers and clinicians.
Thank you to our community of supporters, donors and advocates whose generosity allows our researchers the ability to explore bold ideas and have the resources and space to translate them into real-life solutions.
