Meet the Match: Alair Edmonton

Alair Home’s is North America’s leading custom home builder, with Alair Edmonton building community where we live. They’ve been a proud supporter of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation for several years.

We asked why it’s important to their organization to support the Foundation and Stollery Children’s Hospital:

Each of our team members has been impacted in some way by the Stollery. Whether it’s a spouse working for the Hospital, a friend or family member who has needed care or our own children needing Stollery services, we’re so grateful to have such a world-class establishment in our backyard.

Working in construction, we see how all the components of a build work together to create a healthy, strong structure that stands the test of time. But we also see how easily the breakdown or compromise of one element can have a catastrophic impact. There are so many synergies between a build and the human body, and we know just how important timely, dedicated care is.

As a team, we support local organizations that are having the biggest impact in our community, and we are proud to support the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation in multiple capacities — from mental health, to art-based recovery, each pillar of support is critical to maintaining a healthy, vibrant and invested community. Thank you for doing what you do.

We connected with Jason, who has his own Stollery connection:

My wife works as a Clinical Dietician at the Stollery Children’s Hospital on many different wards. When someone you know works at the Stollery and is involved in the day-to-day, they have a better understanding of what is really needed at the Stollery. She has so many personal stories of patients, but she says, “Kids are so resilient. Kids can really come back from things.”

Having someone in your family that works at the Stollery creates a tie there that makes everyone in our family and company want to help out.

What has been the most impactful part about supporting the Stollery?

I helped hand out meals through the Breakfast Program with some of my team members and it really was the simplest thing to do as a team – handing out meals – but it also gave us context and insight, because health care can be so private.

It felt like all the units were so far away from each other, and some units were within adult units. Adults and children heal so differently – it doesn’t feel right to have them in the same unit.

We also got to see a family bringing their child into surgery, and although it was a tough moment, the alternative is that the opportunity doesn’t even exist for them. It made me realize how lucky we are to have the Stollery.

What would you say to someone who is considering supporting the Foundation?

If you don’t have kids, it could be a niece or nephew who needs the Stollery, it could be a kid you coach, or a grandchild you don’t have yet. A hospital isn’t built in a day. But we need to secure the opportunity for generations to come.

We need to look after our children, because they’re our future. They need us to help them because they can’t do this on their own.

My son is a Stollery Superstar. In junior high school, he and his friend rented out the county pool in Sherwood Park for his birthday and invited their entire grade. Instead of presents, they did donations – they did this for two or three years in a row – and they raised pretty good money for the Stollery. It was such a proud parent moment. And it was so much cheaper and easier than throwing our own party!

Thank you, Alair Edmonton, for being a sponsor for this year’s Meet the Match and all you do for Stollery kids!

On December 5, 2025, Alair Edmonton is matching donations up to a total of $10,000.
