Meet the Match: Alberta Chicken

Alberta Chicken has been supporting the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation for many years. They’re our longest standing sponsor for Teddy Bear Fun Fest — with their very own farmers on-site handing out lunches!

Alberta Chicken represents more than 250 family-owned and operated farms across the province. Every day, their farmers work to raise safe, high-quality chicken for Albertans — chicken that’s locally grown, responsibly raised and proudly Canadian.

As family farmers, they know that healthy communities start with healthy families. Supporting the Stollery is a natural extension of their shared values: caring for others, giving back locally and ensuring that Albertan families have access to exceptional care when they need it most.

We asked why it’s important to their organization to support the Foundation and Stollery Children’s Hospital:

Like all Albertans, we care deeply about the health and well-being of our families, friends, and communities. Through our corporate social responsibility initiative, the Good Neighbours Program, we strive to assist in building strong, healthy communities.

Supporting the Foundation allows us to contribute to ensuring that children and their families have access to the care they need during their most challenging times. We are so grateful to play a small role in supporting this essential institution.

— David Hyink, Chair, Alberta Chicken Producers Board of Directors

We also connected with Hinke, an Alberta Chicken farmer, who has her own Stollery story:

Our Stollery story is not a very complex one. Our middle child, Emilie, was born with a big mole on her chest that presented us with a cancer scare. We eventually had it removed once she was four years old, but the process was so smooth — we had so many fears, but the staff were such pros. We had so many questions, but they answered them all for us which was so amazing for people like us who live on a farm and who don’t see hospitals often. We are so grateful to have the Stollery close to our family just an hour away from the farm.

Their Stollery story is one that shows that the Hospital is not only here for the most complex cases, but for every child, no matter what form of care they need.

We also have family who work at the Stollery, and you hear so many stories about people who have needed to use the Stollery. There’s such an impact all around – not only is it here in our backyard, but it’s also here for kids in Saskatchewan, or even Manitoba and beyond. We take it for granted to have that peace of mind that its right here for whenever we need it.

What has been the most impactful part about supporting the Stollery?

Just seeing the friends and family who use it – our instance wasn’t super life-threatening, but we’ve had friends who have needed it for more dire instances. Children are the future and its important they get the care they need.

Also, knowing people who work at the Stollery and how much dedication it would take to work there.

What would you say to someone who is considering supporting the Foundation?

I would say just do it. Don’t consider it, just do it. It might affect you in one way, shape or form. You are way more connected than you realize, and you may be even more connected in the future.

Thank you, Alberta Chicken Producers, for being a sponsor for this year’s Meet the Match and all you do for Stollery kids!

On November 30, 2025, Alberta Chicken Producers is matching donations up to a total of $5,000.
