Meet Luka
Luka is a soccer enthusiast who loves to play video games, ride his scooter and travel. Thanks to the world-class care he continues to receive at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, he gets to do all the things he loves, while being an outpatient.
Over Christmas break in 2018, Luka came down with a winter bug. He got very sick, slowly stopped eating, had unexplained fevers, limb pain and more.
As fate would have it, Luka slipped one night and hit his stomach on the table. His parents brought him to their community hospital where the doctor ordered a blood test that came back with concerning results, and Luka being transferred to the Stollery.
After several more blood tests, Luka was diagnosed with leukemia. The first two months of his treatment were bumpy with multiple medical complications, from numerous infections causing him to losing his ability to walk. After a long recovery journey, Luka is able to walk again!
Thanks to the ongoing care from his Stollery team and the love and support from his family, Luka’s future is bright!
