Stollery kids take over West Edmonton Mall
During Paint the City Purple Week this past February, Stollery kids Addison and Addley took over West Edmonton Mall as co-mayors!
You may have heard their stories at Radiothon, seen them at Mighty Millions Lottery houses or even spotted them in our No Bounds campaign — and now they’ve taken over WEM!
Addison and Addley were elected as mayors of West Edmonton Mall and spent the day dashing around the mall on a $1,500 shopping spree, creating their own Build-A-Bears, visiting Marine Life and ending the day with a sleepover at Fantasyland Hotel (in a space themed room, of course!).
The twins have been strong supporters and ambassadors of the Stollery after experiencing their own individual Hospital journeys. Addison has had five surgeries including open-heart surgery and ear reconstruction surgery. Addley has also been diagnosed with hearing issues, leading her to receive both ear tubes and ear reconstruction surgery. Both twins wear hearing aids and visit the Stollery regularly to monitor their hearing issues. Addison’s team also keeps a close eye on her heart, lungs and gastrointestinal tract.
In partnership with E360S, WEM’s Mayor of the Mall program aims to run a few times each year in partnership with a local charity to give a child a one-of-a-kind experience. Addley and Addison were their first ever co-mayors!
