Giving Comfort to kids and families

The Patient and Family-Centered Care program supports Stollery kids and their families in many different ways throughout their health-care journey.

Okimasis’ family was told he would never walk or talk. Today, he is a happy young boy who loves to play hockey and cheer on the Edmonton Oilers. Below is a letter from his mom, Sakawiskwew, to the Stollery and its supporters.

Facial paralysis due to Moebius syndrome has meant that Piper was unable to make facial expressions for most of her life. Thanks to specialized care provided at the Stollery, Piper now can now communicate with her family – and everyone else around her – with a smile.
