A family’s experience at the Stollery involves a diverse team of caretakers, from doctors and nurses to Child Life specialists, social workers and more. Meet some of the Stollerific staff who are giving all kids the best chance to live a long and healthy life in the stories below.
Stephanie has worked at the Stollery for four and a half years as Clinical Nurse Educator specializing in mental health.
Dr. Allan de Caen and his team at the Stollery have spent many years establishing and enhancing a program to address critical health-care needs of kids in rural Alberta and beyond. For his work, Dr. de Caen received the Canadian Hospital Impact Award at this year's Children's Hospitals Week.
Dr. Simon Urschel has worked at the Stollery Children's Hospital for 17 years. As a Pediatric Cardiologist, and now as Director of Pediatric Cardiac Transplant, he has saved hundreds of lives.
As Certified Child Life Specialists, Angela and Melanie's jobs are to help children cope with hospitalizations and reduce medical trauma. Soon, an exciting four-legged addition will be joining their expert team: a facility dog! As handlers, Angela and Melanie will work with the new facility dog to help patients meet specific, individualized goals.
Dr. Jess Foulds started at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in 2009 as a trainee and has now been working as a pediatric hospitalist since 2013.
Oana Caluseriu is a medical geneticist who focuses on rare genetic disorders at the University of Alberta in the department of medical genetics.
Sarah Topilko has been with the Stollery Children’s Hospital since 2016 as co-ordinator for the Patient & Family-Centred Care Team.
